Daniel, a Canadian geologist stationed on a remote Pacific island to monitor volcanic activity. The volcano—thought dormant—has begun to show signs of life: tremors, heat readings, strange animal behavior. Daniel is rational, methodical, and skeptical of folklore. But he is also alone.
The only other resident is Kama, an elderly islander who refuses to leave. Kama warns Daniel that the volcano is sacred—a living force that punishes those who disrespect it. He tells a local legend about a past eruption that destroyed a village after a betrayal. Daniel dismisses it as myth.
